Despicable Me captures a cheeky moment of play as an orphaned baby Bornean Orangutan (Pongo Pygmaeus) swings gleefully from a tree ~ full of energy and attitude. With limbs outstretched and eyes twinkling, this little one radiates the wild spirit and resilience that orangutans are so loved for.
Despite the hardship of being orphaned, moments like these remind us of the joy and curiosity that still burns brightly in young orangutans. Their play is more than fun ~ it’s vital for developing strength, social skills and survival instincts.
Named with a nod to its playful personality, Despicable Me is a celebration of character, hope and the untamed spark that lives on in the face of adversity.

FUN FACT: Orangutans' powerful limbs are perfect for life in the trees, allowing them to swing with ease using a unique “hook grip,” where they loop their fingers over branches without using their thumbs.
