Joy in the Jungle captures a rare moment of pure delight deep within the rainforests of Tangkahan, Sumatra. Here, a Sumatran elephant ~ one of the most critically endangered elephant subspecies on Earth ~ lifts her trunk and releases a cascade of river water, splashing sunlight and droplets into the humid jungle air.
Photographed while Liam Lynch was working alongside local rangers and conservation teams, this image reveals a side of these giants often unseen: playful, expressive, and full of character. Every wrinkle, every droplet, every spark of energy speaks to the deep emotional lives these animals carry.
In a world where habitat loss threatens their very existence, Joy in the Jungle is a reminder of what we stand to lose ~ and what is still possible to protect.
