‘Aftermath’ ~ Echoes in the Ashes
Aftermath is a haunting composition that fuses the ghostly outlines of the Kelly Gang’s armour with a charred Australian bushland, evoking both historical memory and environmental devastation. The iconic armour looms like spectres among the scorched trees, emerging from the shadows as enduring symbols of rebellion, violence and myth.
Through this layered imagery, Liam Lynch draws parallels between two forms of aftermath: the smouldering legacy of Ned Kelly and his men, and the silent resilience of a land marked by fire. The artwork speaks to the cyclical nature of destruction and survival — where legends are forged in loss and landscapes hold stories long after flames have passed.
Aftermath is a meditation on what remains — fragments of iron, echoes of defiance and the quiet strength of a scarred yet unbroken land.
