Collection: Orangutans
Orangutans are highly intelligent great apes native to the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra. Their name means "person of the forest" in Malay, reflecting their close genetic link to humans. Orangutans are known for their distinctive red hair, long arms and remarkable problem solving abilities. They are primarily arboreal, spending most of their lives in trees and have a largely solitary lifestyle. Critically endangered due to deforestation, habitat loss and illegal wildlife trade, orangutans play a vital role in forest ecology as seed dispersers and are a powerful symbol for rainforest conservation.
