Planet Spider Crab is a striking black and white artwork that transforms a swirling mass of Giant Spider Crabs (Leptomithrax gaimardii) into a surreal, spherical form ~ a planet made entirely of legs, shells and motion.
Captured during the annual aggregation of these fascinating creatures, the image reimagines the ocean floor as its own alien world, teeming with life and texture. Presented in monochrome, the artwork emphasises form and pattern, evoking both awe and curiosity at the complexity of marine life.
Planet Spider Crab is a visual metaphor ~ a reminder that there are entire worlds hidden beneath the surface, strange and beautiful, governed by rhythms older than our own.
