Under Fire presents the Weedy Sea Dragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) in a rare and commanding front-facing profile, its delicate features framed by the fiery hues that ripple through its body. Glowing with rich oranges, deep reds, and molten golds, the sea dragon appears both otherworldly and regal ~ a creature of flame and water suspended in perfect stillness.
The intense colouring, combined with the bold perspective creates a portrait that is both visually arresting and emotionally resonant. The title Under Fire speaks not only to the dragon’s blazing appearance, but also to the environmental pressures threatening its survival in the wild.
